Named after Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

Saint Mary of the Cross is Australia’s first saint. 

A woman of faith, she worked to educate the poor and to meet the needs of women who found themselves in difficult circumstances.  Mary founded the order of Josephite Nuns and started many schools in South Australia. Mary is celebrated as a determined, innovative and liberated leader of education for country school children.
