History of Benedict
Saint Benedict is the Patron Saint of students.
Born in 480 and died in 543. He was the founder of Benedictine monasteries and the Rule of Benedict. It was the Rule of Benedict which gave the Good Samaritan Sisters their inspiration and guide to becoming a Religious Order. Benedict’s rule is best summarised as a call to prayer , work and a balanced life witnessing compassion, balance, listening, community, healing, prayer, humility, hospitality, stewardship, partnership, Word of God and peace in everything towards building community.
